We told you a little while ago that it had been announced that the upcoming sequel to the Tomb Raider reboot would be joining Fallout 4 and Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate in ditching the multiplayer element to focus on the main story. As it turns out though, that may not be the case because a Crystal Dynamics rep stated in an interview with Game Reactor that there will be a competitive multiplayer element in place but couldn’t yet confirm exactly what that mode would entail.
We actually haven’t confirmed whether we have a multiplayer yet. We hopefully will be doing that soon, within the next week or so. There is something in place that will allow you to compete with your friends, but we just haven’t revealed exactly what yet.
In related news, a listing for Rise of the Tomb Raider’s season pass surfaced on Amazon and its description seems to be indicative of some form of multiplayer element. The price of the season pass is currently listed as $29.99 (which means we will probably get it for around R450) and according to the description, “The season pass for Rise Of The Tomb Raider includes a range of content that will extend your single-player campaign, and also allow you to compete with friends.”
Obviously with no official word from the developers, nothing is set in stone but let’s hope that if they do decide to include the multiplayer element, it won’t feel as superfluous and unimaginative as it was in the first game.
