Oh, the glory days of the PS1. It was a golden era where three dimensional gaming took off on console and where top franchises were born. Capcom took full advantage of this era and we saw classics such as Resident Evil becoming one of the biggest franchises in the business. Then there was Dino Crisis. Not quite as memorable as the Resi series, but it came from the mind of Shinji Mikami, was highly addictive and had DINOSAURS! The sequel was okay and the third instalment was forgettable, but now it seems that there’s a tiny chance that it might be revived.
The folks that’s helped Capcom bring Monster Hunter to life, Tencent, have stated that they’re interested in working on more Capcom titles. The producer mentioned that they’re keen on the following franchises: Resident Evil, Street Fighter, Devil May Cry, Onimusha, Dino Crisis, and Sengoku Basara.
Onimusha might be another title that would have fans rejoicing, but it’s Dino Crisis that stands out from the lot. The world would perhaps also work in a Monster Hunter styled game, though we’re not too sure if that’s what fans of the series would want. Right now it’s nothing more than a pipe dream, but let’s hope this becomes reality.
