Uncharted 4 has sold 2.7 million copies in its first week

Still playing and enjoying Drake’s latest outing? Thanks to you and many others Uncharted 4 has sold very well in its first week. In its first week it sold a staggering 2.7 million copies, both physical and digital. In North America it did so well that Sony claims it’s the fastest-selling first-party game to date in the US.

These numbers include both physical and digital copies of the game, but is still an impressive number no matter how you looks at it. By comparison The Last of Us sold 3.4 million copies in the first 3 weeks, which Uncharted 4 will very likely smash by the time it’s been at retail for 3 weeks.

Shawn Layden, Chairman at Sony Interactive Worldwide Studios, had this to say about the good news:

Thank you to the team at Naughty Dog for delivering Uncharted 4, a stunning experience that sets a new bar for interactive entertainment. We are thrilled so many gamers have taken this journey with Nathan Drake and look forward to continuing to deliver epic gaming experiences available only on PlayStation

That quote sounds like typical PR talk, but who are we to disagree? Congratulations to the team at Naughty Dog, and we’d also like to take this time to thank Neilan Naicker, a South African, who had a part to play in the development of the game. We featured Neilan here before.
