SA Gigabyte Dota 2 challenge LAN stage kicks off this weekend

Looking for something to do this weekend? If you happen to be in Johannesburg there is some local eSports action at Cradlestone Mall as teams battle it out for a chance at the finals of the South African Gigabyte Dota 2 Challenge, with R150,000 of cash in prizes.

This first weekend will see teams from White Rabbit Gaming (Newb), Reversal eSports (Full on Jukes), Flipside Tactics (Masters) and Energy eSports (Piglets) fighting for a spot in the Finals. There is also a cosplay competition, if you prefer seeing people making amazing outfits and portraying cool characters instead of watching all the jukes, denies and big plays on stage. Seeing as the competition has R15,000 in prizes, I expect some really amazing cosplay will be there.

If you can’t get to Cradlestone Mall (or you are terrified of the West), you can catch the games on hitbox, where the Nav.TV team will be streaming and shoutcasting the games.

The schedule is as follows:

Round 1 – 09:00 – 12:00
Round 2 – 12:30 – 15:30
Round 3 Finals (Upper Bracket Finals) – 16:00 – 19:00

Lower Bracket 1 – 09:00 – 10:00
Lower Bracket Finals – 10:30 – 13:30
Grand Finals 14:00 – 19:00

If you dislike Dota 2, there is also Pro Evolution Soccer and Lego to check out.
