Rumour: You might need the Infinite Warfare disc to play the Modern Warfare remaster

Activision does it again!

Since Call of Duty Infinite Warfare received such monstrously negative feedback just because of its existence, Infinity Ward and Activision are in a bit of a precarious situation with their billion dollar franchise. The game will still sell well, don’t kid yourself, but since this is Activision we’re talking about, they want to milk their “loyal” customers a little bit more. They obviously tried this by including the classic Call of Duty Modern Warfare remastered as a pre-order incentive, trying to drive up sales.

The question whether or not the remaster will be sold separately has been asked a lot and we still don’t have a solid answer for it. However, new evidence seems to show us that they might pull some last-gen stunts to force you to buy Infinite Warfare if you want the remaster. This information comes to us from some fine-print from a promotional image for the remaster:

The little legal text tells us one important thing: (game disc must be inserted to play Modern Warfare Remastered). This is pretty confusing since the game will be a download rather than be on its own separate disc, although now they say that some sort of disc needs to be inserted. Is that the Infinite Warfare disc they are talking about? It sort of has to be.

So it looks like the strategy is to force consumers to have Infinite Warfare no matter what if they want to play the remaster. That is some top-grade scummy behaviour right there. Activision are yet to respond to these allegations, so it might be possible that there was some miscommunication. However, it seems more and more likely that Modern Warfare Remastered will not be sold separately.
