EVO 2017 gets dates and an intense trailer

When people think of the large eSports events their attention is quickly drawn to Dota 2’s International or the League of Legends World Championship and that’s quite unfortunate. While those events are spectacles to behold and are always enjoyable to watch, they just don’t have that community feel to them. Don’t get me wrong, they bring in the fans of the games but it’s always to spectate the top level of play. The thing that’s special about the Fighting Games Community is not just the complexity of their games but also the great sense of community you get from their major events. Anyone can rock up to play and even land up winning the tournament, it’s just something we don’t see in the more mainstream eSports which creates a massive barrier to the top level of play.

That all being said, I can’t wait for EVO 2017, one of the biggest fighting games tournament, which is set to return to Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas from the 14th-16th July 2017.

Now for anyone that isn’t accustomed to competitive fighting games this may not seem to be that big of a deal. It’s just another big tournament right? Well if you want to over simplify it, maybe, but there is a lot more to the event. With it being one of the largest events, stakes are high and there are a lot of hype moments that go with it. There will always be some amazing moments that come out of these events and you’ll witness some incredible upsets, with some incredible underdog stories being made in the progress.

While it may seem like I’m blabbering on about this you can always check it out and see for yourself. Fighting games YouTuber Maximillian Dood put together this amazing compilation of hype moments from EVO 2016 to show off how incredible this tournament can be.
