Streets of Rage, Altered Beast and other classics getting the film and TV treatment

streets of rage movie
It looks like some of the biggest games from the SEGA Genesis era such as Streets of Rage, Altered Beast and Shinobi are all being made in to either films or TV shows. Producer Marc Platt who worked on Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and The Girl on the Train has already signed on for the big screen adaptation of Shinobi. It also looks like Golden Axe, Virtua Fighter, The House of the Dead and Crazy Taxi have all been earmarked as possible TV shows and film projects for the near future as well.

I would love to see a House of the Dead movie or TV show after having spent 90% of my pocket money on that game in arcades month after month when I was a young chap. It’s so nice to see that such classic games from the 90’s have not been forgotten and now a new generation will get to experience them in other formats. Let’s just hope it does not end up like Street Fighter The Movie…
