It would seem that Activision is a bit desperate to get people to play its latest entry into the Call of Duty franchise, as it’s now doing a free trial for Infinite Warfare that’ll span 15-20 December on PS4 and Xbox One.
This is great if you’re curious about the game and keen to give it a bash, but not sure you want to shell out the money for it. The free trial is a bit misleading however, as its just a glorified demo. Activision explained via its support page that it will only be the first two levels of the campaign, and you have a level 15 cap on multiplayer. You will also be downloading the full game, which is about 60GB. So you will have to decide if its worth your time.
Infinite Warfare is not a bad game, but the series did lose its edge a bit, and its competing with games like Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2 in 2016, which a lot of people believe to be far superior. I would have been interested in giving the single player a bash, but having to download 60GB just for a few levels is not really an attractive proposition for me.
Please note that Activision did say that it is region specific, and at the time of writing, I didn’t see anything in the local Xbox Marketplace or PSN Store. But if you are interested, and have the bandwidth to spare, you can keep an eye out for it.
