SA Gamer Awards 2016: Best Multiplayer

Most things in life are better with friends instead of alone. Dinner, movies, adventures and uh, intimate things too. Sometimes you just need to share something with another person to have it reach its peak. Games do this too. There is something special about beating a human at a game rather than an AI. In most cases AI is designed to lose. Humans aren’t designed to lose, and beating someone has a certain joy, that feeling of knowing that you just ruined someone’s day with a perfect headshot or play.

Overwatch

Ah, Overwatch. This game is fast-paced, fun and has something to offer players of any skill level. Whether you are a jumping head-shot pro or you set up auto-aiming turrets and auto-aiming weapons, there is a place for you on the battlefield. This game makes you think about team composition and strategy and being able to change heroes mid-game with close to no penalty means things can go from what looks like a complete loss to an amazing victory in seconds.

Runner-up: Battlefield 1

Honourable mention: Forza Horizon 3, Gears of War 4, Overcooked, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Uncharted 4, PES 2017

Sometimes called the Dream Breaker, Valshen is often spotted playing anything with the letters RPG somewhere in the title or genre. Or apologising for things that his beard did.
