This weekend saw the 2016 Arc System Works Fighting Game Awards, which sought to celebrate some of the top Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator and BlazBlue: Central Fiction players. While there were some incredible bouts to be had it also served as a pretty decent time to make some announcements for their games. At the end of the event they confirmed that an update to Revelator, Rev2 would be coming soon to arcades.

Guilty Gear Xrd: Rev2 will be coming soon to arcades and will bring with it a newcomer – Answer, the Business Ninja and series veteran Baiken, the Lone Samurai. This announcement might upset some as it may now seem that their less-than-a-year-old game might soon become irrelevant, but Arc has confirmed that Rev2 will be available as a low-price update for those who already own Revelator on consoles and PC. Along with additional fighters, the game will also include balance adjustments with new techniques being added to existing characters as well as some additional single player content.
The Rev2 update is currently set for an arcade release in the Japanese Spring with the console release still to be confirmed. This does put console and PC players at a disadvantage considering Rev2 will more than likely replace Revelator at major tournaments but, hopefully, Arc is able to quickly move the update into the homes of Guilty Gear Xrd fans.
While it might seem like we may be a long way away from seeing Rev2 locally, you could always check out Answer and Baiken in action in the announcement trailer while you wait:
