Konami unveils Bombergirl and it’s what you would expect

Konami never ceases to amaze. After the slight bit of positive press by introducing the world to Super Bomberman R, they have to remind everyone that Konami is definitely Konami. The less-than-beloved publisher at this year’s Japan Amusement Expo, announced Bombergirl. Best way to explain the reasoning behind this one: You take Bomberman and just add Waifus.

Bomberman is a beloved franchise. One that has stood the test of time as a multiplayer staple. With the recent reveal of Super Bomberman R for the Nintendo Switch, many saw Konami take a step in the right direction as a publisher. A very small step but a motion forward nonetheless. Yet leave it to Konami to take one step forward, turn around and sprint right on back.

Below are some images from the titular game (credit to Gematsu). Right now it has only been confirmed for arcades and no release date has been given. Check out the official website here if you wish to get a closer look at the characters. As we all know, determining Waifus is no easy task.

Say what you want, but I am kind of digging the cute designs.

Super Bomberman R will be the first Bomberman game in more than five years. The Switch exclusive is probably the second most notable launch title (let that one sink in). At the end of the day, we can all sleep soundly knowing that this will still be better than Bomberman: Act Zero. Regardless of Waifus and torn up clothing, it will still have the foundation of a Bomberman game so it should still be fun. Right?

Oh wait, this is Konami. Never assume the rational. Hell, they can’t even decide what the “R” stands for in their new game.
