Rime is finally starting the island adventure in May

It has been a long time coming but Rime finally seems to be a coming out. Confirmed for PS4, Xbox One and PC, Rime is going to be available on May 26th. The Switch version will be coming later in 2017.

Along with the release date was the confirmation of prices and I use the plural because the Switch version is asking for bit more. On the PC, PS4 and Xbox One, the game will cost $29.99/ £29.99 while the Switch version will be $39.99/£39.99. While it is always messy to figure out the local digital pricing, one can still expect the Switch version be have a big mark up when released later.

Rime was initially revealed at the Gamescom 2013 press conference as a PlayStation 4 exclusive. With that first trailer many were hooked by the style of the game. Taking cues from Ico and the Wind Waker, it stuck out as something unique that caught the eye. After a long silence, just last year the game was announced to no longer be a PlayStation exclusive as the Developer Tequila Works took back the IP rights from Sony only to announce new publishers, Grey Box and Six Foot, months later.

It was only this year January that Rime was re-revealed via IGN presenting a new gameplay trailer. While there is a noticeable difference from the initial reveal, the game is still looking great. Many feared the worst over those three years, yet the game is finally going to be available and we couldn’t be happier.

So we are going to have to wait a few more months before we can finally put this one to rest. It seems Tequila Works took its Team Ico inspiration seriously. Much like the legendary studio, they will always keep you waiting on that release, worrying all the while. Let’s hope like the legendary studio, they can present something magical.
