In a trend that continues in this generation we’re about to see another game doing the whole ‘remaster thing’, and because I’m such a Wipeout fanboi I’m for once not opposing this remaster. It’s been close to a decade since last we saw a Wipeout game appearing on a PlayStation console, though we did see Wipeout 2048 showing up in 2011 on the PS Vita. Studio Liverpool, the masterminds behind this series was let go by Sony some time ago, so this is as good as it’ll get for the foreseeable future.
Wipeout: Omega Collection is made up of three games: Wipeout HD, Wipeout Fury and Wipeout 2048. HD and Fury will receive a bump up in textures, while 2048 will have quite a bit of work done to it to upscale it from its original small screen form. Players will get to experience these classic titles in 4K and HDR.
Wipeout: Omega Collection is now confirmed to launch on 31 July, which is considered as one of the quieter months of the year when it comes to game releases, so best you tape your eyelids down – things are about to go supersonic speeds!
