Shiness: The Lightning Kingdom released yesterday and if you haven’t heard about it until now, you should take a gander. Set in a world that you would think comes from a Japanese studio, this French developed action RPG is set in the bright and colourful Gendys Island. Here you will follow the story of Chado and his companions.
Using combat systems that revolve around the elements, in a style with a lot in common with a fighting game, Shiness looks like a breath of fresh air in a genre fraught with embedded designs and systems.
Outside of combat your magic helps you navigate the world and find secret treasure, while side quests might just help you learn a new technique. It sounds like something I want to get lost in and it is currently sitting on 74% on Opencritic and 8/10 on Steam.
The biggest issue really is that the only way to get it in South Africa is a digital purchase, meaning anyone that is trying to avoid big data usage is out on a limb. It is R419 on Steam, R475 on PS4 and R439 on Xbox One.
