Rtings have some recommended settings - http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/sam...s8500/settings. Try those as a baseline and tweak it to your preferences.

@KenMasters may be able to provide some advice here. He's super clued up on this kind of stuff.

I use these settings on my 8500. Iíll follow this thread and see what @KenMasters says as well !

And for gaming, taken from the above link - but in gaming mode of course:

For HDR gaming, once that game is enabled, increase the backlight to max, set the 'Color Space' to 'Auto' and set 'Smart LED' to high.

Edit: The OG PS4 can also handle hdr btw

Somewhere I was told that the standard "Movie" mode is close to the best but the whites looked yellow. I also need to calibrate mine, everything is a little oversaturated.

HDMI cable should be fine and Sharpness at 0 yes. The Rtings settings posted already look fine (don't use the White Balance and Colour Management System setting though) but I would go with the detailed walkthrough of the recommended settings here:

If you change the warm setting on movie mode from warm 2 to warm 1 it removes the yellow, warm 1 makes it a little cooler than warm 2.

I stay away from hdr+, it just seems to over saturate everything

Sharpness remains 0. Only updates I did was the firmware updates on the TV.

Remember to set your hdmi inputs to uhd (canít remember exactly what itís called on the tv settings) so that hdr is enabled.

Looking at Rtings, AVForums and HDTVtest's readings, all actually show a deficiet of Red, so in fact Warm 2 is not only the closest to correct, it's likely a bit on the cool side. I would recommend leaving it on Warm 2 for a week or so to see if you can get used to it before opting for the blue tinted Warm 1.
