DStv BoxOffice snatching SA moviegoers

At 48 rand a ticket and they are wondering why they are closing cinemas. The snacks aren't cheap either. Then there is the petrol price , toll fees , big screen hd and 3d tv home cinemas , internet downloadable movies.
DSTV box office is the least of their problems.

My solution would be for them to spend some money in upgrading their cinemas to Sony 4K screens and move to DLP, and upgrade their cinema speakers and sound. If the end user could experience how great a proper cinema experience could be, they would be less tempted to settle for other avenues to get their movie kicks.

Anyone here ever actually experience 4K cinema? Is it really all that?

We complain about spending R48 on a movie ticket these days, though when I was in London in 2005, I clearly remember paying something like £9-£11 for a single movie ticket to watch Fantastic Four. Easy over a hundred Rand and that was 7 years ago... But I didn't see many other people complaining about it there?

Why is that? Are we spoilt here, or does their earnings and lifestyle over there allow them to be able to pay far greater prices for movie tickets than us?

Yea I nearly got a heart attack when I was there 2 years ago. £14 to watch Alice in Wonderland I think. The cinema was quite crap as well.

Went to movies last night, Monte Casino.

Picture was slightly out of focus and only the front speakers worked. Any home setup would have been way better quality.

This is why the Cinema experience is dying, because it's supposed to be better than what you have at home not worse.

Charge a third of the current prices for tickets and snacks... we all know how we being ripped off and now with better content readily available at home its no wonder they're suffering as a result. I prefer watching hd at home and I only have a 32" lcd!

All the ones I have watched are VERY good quality considering this is SA...LOL basically watch the free trailers thats the quality
