What’s Not Delayed? (Part I)

not-delayed

We’ve all heard the jokes, “2014 has been delayed to 2015”, and it’s understandable considering just how many games were promised for this year are now only coming next year. The thing is that we seem so focused on what’s been delayed that we don’t actually realise what is still coming out this year.

Well it’s time you all got a reminder, and understood just why there is a reason to still be excited about 2014. I counted over 40 games coming out this year that we should be excited for, and for your viewing pleasure I will highlight some of those games all through this week. Be patient if you don’t see your game straight away, it might come later on, but here are some of the games to be excited about this year {Unless they get delayed also at which point Jarred will have to go cry in a corner somewhere}.

1. Destiny

The first, and most obvious game to mention, having just played the Alpha, is Bungie’s Destiny. The Halo cross Borderlands filled  with nothing but awesome is heading to PS4 and Xbox One this September. Everyone who has played the Alpha has raved about it {And we’re all having withdrawal symptoms, we NEEEEEEDDDDSS more PRECIOUSSSSSSS}, and just can’t get enough of the game that seems like it will be the reason to own a new-gen console. This game is not to be missed.

2.Sunset Overdrive

Yes, I am well aware that the Xbox One is not out here yet, but it is releasing in September and one of the games coming out shortly after its local release is Insomiac’s fun filled action-come-parkour-come-insane-fun shooter. The recent E3 footage leaves us with no doubt that this game will be worth playing, and possibly even worth buying the Xbox One for. It looks rad.

3. Super Smash Bros. (3DS and Wii U)

Super Smash Bros. is probably the ultimate fighting game. It has a roster of nothing but iconic characters facing off in arenas coming out games that have filled our screens over the years. It’s 4 on 4 mayhem in what is easily the most fun to be had on any console anywhere. And we have two versions of the game coming out, so even better then. Some might say the Smash Bros series are a cultured taste, cultured to awesome if you ask me.

4. The Last of Us Remastered

Apart from a few people who didn’t enjoy it {These people exist? Wait, it’s those fools who write for SA Gamer right!? Their opinion doesn’t count anyway}, everyone else agreed that The Last of Us was the most fantastic game to come out of the last generation. The graphics, story, characters, gameplay… I could go on all day. But it was all simply spectacular and that has led to Naughty Dog reproducing the game for the PS4 in an all new remastered version. Yes, some will say they can’t justify paying for it again, but I can’t wait to get my hands on this new version and to return to that marvelous world. Day one buy for sure, especially considering that all the DLC will be included.

5. Sport Titles

Yes, I know I know, it’s the yearly release of the games, and they are always the same and blah blah blah blah blah. The point is that the annual sport titles sell better than most other games every single year, so whether you think there is merit to it or not is irrelevant because to many these titles are the ‘must have’ titles every single year. In fact, many people own consoles just for their favourite yearly release. So love them or not, the sport titles are coming and they will be loved by all those that ‘get them’. To save you the trouble I included them all under this post so you don’t have to worry too much about seeing them again. So that’s FIFA 15, Madden 15, NHL 15, NBA 2K 15, NBA Live 15 and PGA 15 all coming later this year. All should be pretty great, apart from maybe NBA Live which seems miles behind the incredible NBA 2K.
