You might recall that when Polyphomy Digital launched Gran Turismo 5 a few years ago that it came with a large amount of cars to select from. The one thing that was rather bizarre was that there was a ‘ Premium’ and ‘Standard’ selection of cars. Premium cars came with some extra attention, such as being able to play it from the cockpit view with the exact replica visually.
Standard cars visually had less attention and cockpit view came with this weird black outlining. It’s been a problem since as GT6, though it improved the overall number of premium cars, still came packaged with standard cars, while games such as Forza 4 included a decent cockpit view for each and ever car. This is not about to end on the PS4.
In an interview with Eurogamer Polyphony Digital CEO, Kazunori Yamauchi, said the following:
I doubt that we’ll be throwing away the standard cars.
Each car has its own fans. So I think we’ll hang on to the archive. In the meanwhile, some of those cars we may be able to make into Premium cars as they become available – but basically we’re more focussed on increasing the number of premium cars.
He confirmed that the game is currently in development and that there will likely not be a Prologue this time round, which comes as good news.
We are working on the title. I don’t think it’ll make this year. I don’t think it’ll be a Prologue.
When Gran Turismo 7 launches is anyone’s guess at this point.
