You can now wirelessly connect your Dualshock 4 to the PS3

In the past we could connect the Dualshock 4 to the PS3 using a USB cable. Problem is that we’d have to sit a meter away from our television sets to get this working, and even closer if you’re using the packed-in USB cable that comes with the PS3. Seems the people at Sony have listened to our complaints. The Dualshock 4 will now have a wireless connection to the PS3 via Bluetooth. This is how you go about it:

– Go to ‘Accessory Settings’ on the PS3 system menu
– Select ‘Manage Bluetooth Devices’
– ‘Register New Device’ to begin scanning for a new device
– Press and hold both the Share Button and PS button on the DS4 until the light starts blinking
– The controller will be detected by the PS3 as a ‘Wireless controller’
– Select it to complete registration

There are however some drawbacks. Both rumble and motion controls do not work and it’s believed that there are issues with some games. So, in essence you now have a Sixaxis controller with improved analogue sticks and no motion controls. (Like any of us use motion controls?)

Married to a gamer and she kicks my ass at most shooters. If the game is enjoyable I'll play it, no matter the format.
