I must be one of the lucky ones. I’ve not experienced any problems with the Dualshock 4 controller, but there’s been enough proof that the analogue sticks have been falling to pieces elsewhere on the internet. Generally the rubber around the stick itself wears off, as it’s made from a very soft rubber compound. A user, named Trials Of Ataraxia on YouTube, recently bought himself a new Dualshock 4 controller and went as far as to open it up. He spotted some interesting improvements.
It looks as if the rubber used on the analogue sticks have been improved and that there might be a better battery included now. He also mentions that the D-Pad and overall controller does not feel as glossy, but I think it’s perhaps him forgetting that he’s played with the older controller for quite some time, hence it’s now glossy.
