What Unannounced Game Announcement Will Excite You?

Every few days I take a look at a list of games that should be out this year. It’s not the most accurate list, but helps me get an idea of what to expect. After May, there’s not much on that list that appeals to me, other than Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain. However, the year is still young and E3 is just around the corner,  but looking at 2015 so far, my excitement levels aren’t sky high anymore. This got me thinking, what game announcements would get me amped and ready for the rest of the year, or just plain excited?

When Announcements Tease

One thing I love and hate are tease announcements. Stuff like ‘tomorrow we’ll tweet the unexpected’ with a cryptic hashtag/image or two ‘suddenly released’ Vine videos from a popular game studio showing you something obscure. It’s a good way to get the community amped for an announcement. It gives us the opportunity to guess what the publishers or devs are talking about.

Deus Ex

The best tease this year (for now) has to be the one for Star Ocean. Not only was it unexpected, but the excitement levels went through the roof. Had I not been sitting at work looking professional,  I would’ve shot through the roof as well. However, there is one other game that had me really looking forward to the year ahead and that game is Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.

Announcement: Catch 22

The one massive flaw in a game announcement is failure to deliver. Remember how excited everyone was for The Burea: XCOM Declassified? People lost their minds when it was first announced. Then it went through developmental purgatory and became the buggy game we received a few years ago.

The last guardian

Then you get all the canceled games, or our favourite “we’re still working on it,” games. The Last Guardian is a perfect example of a game that got everyone excited and hopeful for so many years… and then nothing happened. Personally, the game that got me hooked,  and now disappointed, was Cyberpunk 2077.

After Cyberpunk, my hype after a new IP is announced is set to manageable levels, simply because I don’t want to be disappointed again. I only rev my ‘hype-o-meter’ with established franchises. That, however, doesnt mean I’m not interested in new games.

What Games Would Excite Me?

So far Star Ocean 5 and Deus Ex are high on my happy list, but if I had to pick one or two other announcements (that don’t exist) they would have to be Fallout 4, a new Ratchet & Clank and a sequel to Alien Isolation.

What game announcement would make your blood pump faster?
