Let’s face it, times are tough for gamers these days. Generally a physical console game will set you back R899 or so, with Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 and Rise of the Tomb Raider recently reselling for R999. We have some bad news, that’s about to get worse. Right now it only affects the Xbox One exclusive games, but do not be surprised if all games go up in price.
We’ve been notified that the following games on Xbox One will increase in price to R1099 January 2016:
- Rise of The Tomb Raider
- Halo 5
- Forza 6
If any of these titles are on your ‘must own’ list be sure to grab it in December if you prefer buying your games new. Where does this leave us with the rest of the titles and other formats? Well, time will tell, but our Rand is weakening to record lows, so you should not be all that surprised if the other distributors follows the same trend and pushes new 2016 releases up to that same price point.
Go back five years or so (to 2010) and ask yourself, “What would I have said if someone told me games were going to set me back R1099 per game”. You’d likely have laughed and told them to GTFO!
