Look back at the awards we ran last week and it was apparent that the first party line-up (exclusive titles) was not a big number. We excluded all remakes and remastered games, which left us with a small number of games including Bloodborne, Until Dawn, Tearaway and The Order 1886. That’s about it. Though some of those titles were absolutely amazing it ended up being a bit bare bones this year, and even the Managing Director of Sony Computer Entertainment Australia, Michael Ephraim, acknowledged that the focus was on third-party in 2015 and little else.
Games that have been released this year, from Destiny, Call of Duty, Star Wars — most of them we have a collaboration with for additional content if you play on PlayStation 4, so we’re pretty confident with the way Christmas is going. The demand is strong.
We have worked very closely with third parties this year because our first party lineup was not as a strong as we would have liked.
2016 promises to change that with Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End being the highlight of their lineup so far. That game alone could be better than anything they’ve released on PS4 in 2015. That said, there were such amazing third-party games this year to such a degree that very few people even noticed the lack of first party games.
