So unfortunately what was supposed to be happy news for a Monday has turned to sad news. Over the weekend Xbox One users discovered that Red Dead Redemption had been added to the list of Xbox 360 game that are backwards compatible for the Xbox One and ready for download. A few users started to download the game and one of them even made a video about it. However it looks like it was an error from Microsoft as they were only testing the game for compatibility with their emulator in hopes to bring it to the backwards compatible library. Larry Hryb from Xbox commented on Reddit saying the following,
Microsoft tests all Xbox 360 games with our emulator to ensure a quality experience across a breadth of titles. Due to an error, some of the games currently in test were accidentally made available. We have since removed access to those games, and apologize for any confusion this may have caused. We will have more information on upcoming releases soon.
Larry also apologised about the mistake via Twitter, which you can see below,
All 360 games are tested through an emulator for quality. Due to an error, games in test were temp avail. Apologies https://t.co/pyANPhdRxj

So sadly it was just an error, but if they are testing it for emulation it must hopefully be on the cards as it was rated third as the most demanded game to be added to the backwards compatibility library by the Xbox community. Let’s see what news the coming weeks bring.
