EGE returns to Cape Town in 2016

Electronic and Gaming Expo EGE Cape Town - SA Gamer

Last year we saw the introduction of EGE to the city of Cape Town. For the first time Cape Town had their own show to be proud of and it was the first show of this stature that made a splash in that part of South Africa. There is good news as EGE will be returning to Cape Town in 2017. Tickets go on sale this coming Friday via and the show will kick off 29th-31st July 2016.

There is big news in a 400-man LAN that’ll be hosted over the weekend and, with the timing in July, you can expect there to be lots of content that makes it to the show post E3. Here’s the complete press release below:

We’re excited to announce that EGE – Cape Town’s Premier Electronics and Gaming Expo is BACK!

After its debut show last year EGE is returning to The CTICC bigger and better than ever before.

The success of last year’s show has proven that Cape Town is ready for more and EGE 2016 is set to answer the call of Cape Town’s gaming, tech and cosplay enthusiasts.

EGE 2016 is confirmed for the 29th-31st July 2016 and tickets will be on sale at Friday 4th March 2016.

Not only will EGE 2016 have everything fans loved from last year’s show including cosplay competitions; awesome merchandise on sale from South Africa’s top retailers; demonstrations and hands-on time with of some of the latest tech, but for the first time will be introducing the EGE LAN.

EGE LAN will host 400 gaming enthusiasts allowing gamers to play all weekend non-stop for 53 hours from Friday 29th July at 10h00 until Sunday 31st July at 15h00. The EGE LAN will be operated by local gaming organisation Orena in conjunction with Zombiegamer who will be running several competitions for those who want to get involved.

Tickets for EGE LAN and the EGE expo will go on sale Friday 4th March 2016. Prices for EGE LAN will be R400 per participant and are expected to sell out so don’t wait as there will only be 400 spots available.

Tickets for EGE expo will be R80 for a day pass (as a special till 31st March – thereafter R100). Weekend passes will be R200.

It looks like rAge is up against EGE to win the heart of Capetonians. rAge takes place in just a few weeks, 18-20 March, with EGE to host its show four months later in July. It’s never been a better time to be a gamer in Cape Town.

Married to a gamer and she kicks my ass at most shooters. If the game is enjoyable I'll play it, no matter the format.
