Shadow of the Beast was announced what feels like about a decade ago (in 2013) at Gamescom, but we haven’t heard much about it since then. We did get some juicy gameplay footage at E3 last year, but not much else. The game did however get a release date of 17 May 2016.
This was announced on the PS Blog, and some other more technical information has been given as well:
Hi PlayStation Blog readers. We’ve finally reached the point where we have to stop putting things into the game – the last tweaks to combat have been made and the final Easter eggs are hidden for you to find. So now we are focused solely on fixing bugs and getting Shadow of the Beast ready to appear on PlayStation Store.
We have been working closely with Sony to find the best time to release and now we have a definitive release date: 17th May 2016.
Our small team has been using the extra time to the fullest – we’ve been able to push the game to a solid 60fps throughout, something we feel passionate about as fans of the fighting genre.
If I can remember that far back, I’m pretty sure I got excited about this game when it was announced, but I’m not too sure. I know I’m excited for it now, since it’s being billed by XDev as being a brutal, difficult and challenging side scrolling action platformer. This is my kind of game, since I really like being pushed to the edge of madness. I just hope Shadow of the Beast lives up to that expectation.
