There’s been so many rumours about the more powerful PS4 that will make its first appearance at the E3 conference that Sony has now come out to say that it is indeed the truth, but that the console will not be at their E3 conference in 2016. According to this report, that just broke, Andrew House, president and global chief executive of Sony Interactive Entertainment, had this to say to the Financial Times:
It is intended to sit alongside and complement the standard PS4. We will be selling both [versions] through the life cycle.
According to him it’ll cost more than the current PS4 you might own as it’ll be a “high-end PS4”. In other words, you’ll have the cheap version. It’ll not be at E3, according to him, as to “ensure we have a full range of the best experiences on the new system that we can showcase in their entirety”. So what about all your current games? He says that “all or a very large majority of games” will be optimised for the new PS4 hardware.
Expect more news on it later this year, or behind-closed-door information from E3.
