A long time ago I played a game called Planescape: Torment and it changed the way I saw games forever. Now after a long wait and well over a hundred emails from its kickstarter, the spiritual successor, Torment: Tides of Numenera is coming next year. It is also coming to consoles.
Publisher Techland confirmed that the game will launch simultaneously on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC in early 2017.
The console port was greenlit after Wasteland 2 did well on consoles, according to Brian Fargo, boss of inXile Entertainment. So far the reaction to the game’s early access version has been stellar, with people saying it captures the imagination, the awe and splendour of Planescape: Torment perfectly. I can’t wait. If you like RPGs that make you think, where your choices have consequence and change the branches of the story that you see, then this is something that should be on your radar. There should be more information about the console version at Gamescom, where it will make a debut to the public.
