Rage and The Evil Within were some of the more flawed offerings that Bethesda released. While not being terrible games at all, they were somewhat lacking in their own ways. The Evil Within left a lot to be desired with regards to its quality and story. Rage was a fantastic shooter with some really innovative AI, but the actual gameplay became pretty stale after a while and the world just wasn’t that interesting or engaging. However, they were still worth playing and it seems they have done well enough commercially that they might receive sequels.
In an interview with Pete Hines, the vice-president of Bethesda, on Finder, he revealed that there is a possibility of the games receiving sequels, but because they’re busy with a ton of other games already, it won’t be a reality any time soon. Here’s what he had to say:
I do think both The Evil Within and Rage did well enough that we could make sequels. Personally I loved Rage and had a ton of fun playing it, but we have a lot of stuff in the pipeline right now so you will have to wait and see.
It might not be likely soon, but sequels for these games would have been great. The originals had massive promise and they could be turned into something spectacular given some refinement and focus.
