Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor introduced us to the Nemesis system, a large yet intricate masterwork that made every orc above grunt meaningful and unique. Were they afraid of fire because you burned them before and they escaped? Disfigured and scarred after cheating death at your hands? Or were they increased in the ranks of the dark army because they killed you? Every death meant time passed and like wild dogs fighting for scraps, lieutenants and commanders would change, get promoted or beaten into service. Shadow of War is giving that system an upgrade.
In Shadow of War, you have created a new ring of power to take on Sauron. You have your own army of darkness to lead and these orcs and trolls also make use of the nemesis system. Will they betray you, save you from ambush or lead the charge against a fortified position? Can you get a spy inside a fort before you attack? This gameplay trailer shows a Talion and Celebrimbor taking on a massive fort using siege beasts, mounts, stealth and an upgraded arsenal of powers.
After watching this, it is going to be a long wait until August 22nd.
