Microsoft’s first party games must be ready for Project Scorpio – Spencer

Microsoft’s new Xbox, code-named Project Scorpio is expected to release in the US market at the end of the year, but we still don’t know much about the machine, other than it being billed as the most powerful console ever.

But, Xbox boss, Phil Spencer responded to a tweet regarding launch games on Project Scorpio, and said that having their first party games ready for the console’s launch is “critical”:

What he meant by “critical” is up for debate, but one can assume it’s to do with current Microsoft exclusive games being 4K ready and compatible, similar to how the PS4 Pro works.

Microsoft’s Xbox division is in a bit of a weird space at the moment. They have what is arguably the best gaming services on offer such as Games with Gold, Play Anywhere, Backwards Compatibility and the newly announced Game Pass, but they lack exclusives, especially with Play Anywhere, which allows users to play Xbox games on both the Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs.

So it is clear that Microsoft is going in a different direction than what we’re used to, but that is not necessarily a bad thing, only problem is, we’re not really sure what that direction is.
