We all have a couple of games in our backlog that we’re not proud of. Sometimes we just can’t get to the games we really want to play and we go years without playing something we may have struggled to acquire. A few years ago I had a friend bring me a copy Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey from the United States and I’ve just never gotten around to playing it. I was considering starting it the other day but then Atlus came around and announced a remake of the under-appreciated title as Shin Megami Tensei: Deep Strange Journey.
Deep Strange Journey feels like a strange title for the remake but, since it has only been announced for Japan for the time being, we’ll have to let it slide. The game will be fully voice acted with new graphics and demons being added for returning players. A new character, Alex, is also being added who seems to be targeting the protagonist as well as an all-new route for the game. Strange Journey already has the Chaos/Law/Neutral routes that are a staple of the series so we could potentially see something similar to the White ending of Shin Megami Tensei IV.
I personally can’t wait to hop into Shin Megami Tensei: Deep Strange Journey and I hope Atlus makes an announcement soon about it coming to the West.
