Bandai Namco, publisher of the Souls series as well as many popular Japanese titles, has officially revealed their new game titled Code Vein. We received a stylish teaser trailer a little while ago that showed a pretty dark and broody aesthetic coupled with anime people that seemed to have fangs. Check out the trailer if you need a refresher:
We now know that game is Code Vein and it has been described as a “gruelling action-RPG with an interconnected world” where you play as a Revenant who are essentially vampires that can suck the blood out of their foes in order to get “Gifts”. It all looks very theatrical and judging from the bevvy of screenshots they provided for the game, it’s going to get dark.
It definitely has a Souls vibe to it, especially given that the game’s catchphrase is #PrepareToDine, but the game is developed by Shift of God Eater fame, so you can expect some JRPG weirdness thrown into a hardcore action title.
Code Vein received a release date of 2018 for “home consoles”. Nothing specific has been revealed yet.
