Call of Duty: WWII is about respect, honour, D-Day and visceral zombies

Update (From Valshen): Here is the visceral trailer revealing Call of Duty World War II, a historically accurate portrayal of a “visceral sort of thing” and what war would have been like.

Call of Duty is heading back to World War II, again. To detail what happens in the European Arena, again. Starting with the beaches of Normandy on D-Day, following a visceral squad of visceral Americans in the later, visceral years of the war. A tail of boots on the ground, some serious stuff and head-to-head combat.

Sometimes you will switch away from the main American squad, to show that this was a global war. Sledgehammer Games co-founder Michael Condrey said “We want to recognise that this was a war that touched every nation on the planet in some way. Upwards of 100 million people were impacted. This is a global war in history, and it’s an inflection in human history,” Condrey says. “We’re going to represent that through a lens of honour and respect”.

Oh and there is a zombies-style co-operative multiplayer section. What is it about? I have no clue, they gave it a corner of a presentation slide. It is “adrenaline filled”, “dark” and “new and original”, apparently.

Original story: Enough with all the leaks and rumours, tonight we will finally officially find out just what the team at Sledgehammer has in store for their next Call of Duty game. We all know it’s going back in time to the biggest war of them all – World War II. It’s a return to the roots of the franchise where we got to experience some of the dreadful events in humanity’s gloomy history in Call of Duty 2.

It’s been 12 years since that released (yes, toddlers who started school have already matriculated since then) and this means we can expect a WWII experience like never before. Be sure to tune into SA Gamer at 7PM tonight (you can bookmark this post) to watch the global reveal below. Right now the video is set to private and will snap into action when the stream goes live. This is what everyone has been asking for, it’s nearly time!

Married to a gamer and she kicks my ass at most shooters. If the game is enjoyable I'll play it, no matter the format.
