If you were looking forward to more Resident Evil 7 action, then you may have to wait a little longer. It appears the first major DLC, Not a Hero, will not be releasing in spring (our autumn) and there’s been no mention of a new release date.
According to the game director, Koshi Nakanishi, the reason for the delay is that the DLC isn’t at the same level as the base game.
“In light of the incredible reception of Resident Evil 7, we concluded that this DLC was not good enough to meet those high expectations.”
Considering the lengths Capcom have gone to restore the Resident Evil brand, it would be a great shame if the DLC failed to live up to our expectations. I’m more than happy with the reason provided, if they’re unhappy with it then so will we. I do appreciate their honesty and drive to give us the best possible version of the game. This is definitely the right mindset to have especially with such a long-standing and respected franchise.
