John Cygan, the voice behind Solidus Snake, has passed away

It’s always sad to hear and read about another person’s death despite it being a fate destined for all of us. John Cygan, a voice actor, recently passed away after a battle with cancer. According to MetalGearInformer (Via VG247), the voice actor died on 13 May at the age of 63. His most famous role was that of Solidus Snake in Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and its future reincarnation, MGS2: Substance.

He started his career in 1990 as an actor, starring in a variety of television series, such as Bob, and The Commish. He’s had a few appearances in other shows like The X-files, NYPD Blue and Judging Amy. However, his voice acting work is quite impressive. He was involved in a variety of major movies and animated series, including Wall-E, Inside Out, Monster’s University, Toy Story 3, Up, Treasure Planet and Ben 10.

He was also quite active in the video game scene. He’s voiced characters in Broken Age, Dead Island, Metal Gear Solid 2, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, EverQuest II, Mafia 2 and 3, various Marvel games, various SOCOM games and various Star Wars games. John Cygan certainly has left quite an impression in the voice acting community. He will be missed.
