The development team behind The Order: 1886, Ready at Dawn, has expressed interest in Nintendo’s latest console the Switch.
The developers have gone through a bit of a rough patch since the launch of the underwhelming Order 1886, but perhaps they simply need to readjust their lens and focus on a console that may bring them some fortune. With the console’s popularity and lack of games, it may be in their best interest to strike now, while the proverbial iron is hot.
In an interview with gameindustry.biz, the creative director of Ready at Dawn, Ru Weerasuriya, had this to say about their interest in the Switch.
“Every time a platform comes out, we always feel like there’s something really cool that can be done with it – a huge graphical advance, a huge technological advance, a new way of interacting in games like VR does. Switch, I think, is the same kind of thing. We see it and we see the market that they’re trying to really kind of grab, expand, and also build. I would definitely tell you that, yeah, internally at the studio there’s a lot of interest for the Switch.”
There’s always talk after a new console launches, but not always a lot of action – just look at the Wii U. I certainly hope their interest goes a little further and sets something in stone. Whilst I doubt a sequel for Order 1886 will ever happen, perhaps a fresh start on a new console is just the ticket they need.
