Get ready for a RUSH, the new esports initiative in South Africa

For ages I have heard whispers and murmurs of RUSH (because you know some people are terrible with secrets), but with nothing official, I had to keep all that in a pocket. Meet RUSH, another South African initiative from the people who run that awesome gaming expo and don’t know how capitilisation works, rAge.

Partnered with HP Omen, RUSH is all about esports in South Africa and eventually beyond. Expect tournaments, competitions and events that will cater to both hardcore and casual esport audiences, with an intent to develop the esports industry of South Africa. The first event is right around the corner on 21 – 23 July in the Sandton Convention Centre. This three day event will have CS:GO, FIFA 17 and League of Legends as main stage events, with a Street Fighter V tournament open to all. If you know how to zone someone, maybe this is the time to come and get noticed and maybe win part of the R20,000 prize pool.

The team that wins the League of Legends tournament will also take part in the FOR GAMES event in Prague on October 19. On the CS:GO side, the winners will qualify for ESWC, which means taking part in these events will be a great chance to get onto the international stage. (Or you know, Energy vs Bravado final, this is CS:GO we are talking about.)

So what will you do all weekend besides lounge around and listen to casters? Well they NAG BYOC LAN is also happening, so you can go shoot your friends between matches.

If it has the letters RPG in it, I am there. Still battling with balancing trying to play every single game that grabs my interest, getting 100% in a JRPG, and devoting time to my second home in Azeroth.
