There was a noticeable absence at Microsoft’s E3 conference and that was, of course, the Master Chief himself. Halo is one of Microsoft’s biggest franchises and since Halo 5: Guardians is almost a couple of years old, it was strange that we had no word of any major sequel, even if it was just a teaser trailer. Obviously, if the game isn’t ready then it’s better for them to hold off on any wild announcements for now. But it sounds like we’ll be waiting for a while before the announcement.
343 Industries writer, Jeff Easterling, said the following in a post on Halo Waypoint:
“While there’s little to nothing that can be said on that front, it’s been made clear that we won’t be talking about Halo’s next major title for quite some time. And no, that doesn’t mean Gamescom. Or PAX. Trust us, when we’re ready to begin pulling back that proverbial curtain, you’ll know. It won’t be soon.”
In translation, don’t expect anything this year from the other major trade shows. It’s entirely likely that Halo 6 will be a major showcase during E3 2018 and considering the recent reveal of the Xbox One X, they must be putting a lot of additional effort into the title. We’ll see when the Chief is ready to show his
face helmet again to the world.
