PlayStation Plus games for July are frighteningly good

It’s taken Sony long enough to barge through their own wall of okay games for the paid PlayStation Plus service, but lately they’ve done so in flying colours. July promises to be no different as there is once again some fantastic games on offer for the small cost you pay every month. It feels as if they got the balance just right with a combination of AAA, Indie, weird and wonderful. Let’s take a look!

Until Dawn – PS4

When eight friends return to the isolated mountain lodge where two of their group disappeared exactly one year ago, things quickly turn sinister.
Gripped by fear and with tensions running high, you’ll have to make the difficult decisions that will mean life, or death, for each member of the group.

Game of Thrones: A Telltale Series – PS4

This new story tells of House Forrester, a noble family from the north of Westeros, loyal to the Starks of Winterfell. Caught up in the events surrounding the War of the Five Kings, they are thrown into a maelstrom of bloody warfare, revenge, intrigue, and horror as they fight to survive while the seven kingdoms tear themselves apart. You will take on the role of different members of the Forrester household, and determine their fate through the choices you make. Change the story around you with your actions and decisions.

That’s You! – PS4 (4th July onwards)

It’s an audacious comedy quiz which challenges you and up to five friends to get personal and find out what you really think about each other. Featuring over 1,000 varied questions, reveal your daring side by taking part in doodle challenges and snapping selfies.

Tokyo Jungle – PS3

What happens to man’s best friend, when man doesn’t exist?

With humans extinct, pets have gone feral, zoo animals have escaped captivity and wild creatures are ruling the streets of Tokyo – and all are facing a savage battle for survival.

As the animal of your choice, you must use your cunning, natural instincts and ruthless aggression to seize territory and escape the jaws of your enemies in this original action adventure game.

Darkstalkers Resurrection – PS3

Darkstalkers Resurrection updates two games for the price of one – Night Warriors: Darkstalkers™ Revenge and Darkstalkers 3. These feature classic gameplay and unique characters as well as a host of new features, including a variety of HD visual modes, online play with 8-player lobbies, YouTube replay sharing, improved challenge modes, dynamic awards, and unlockable extras. Embrace the dark!

Don’t Die Mr Robot – PS Vita (cross-buy with PS4)

The cute, colorful and blissfully frantic action game that arcade fans have been waiting for all their lives. Mr. Robot loves fruit! But whenever he tries to eat one it explodes. It’s not all bad though! Those explosions destroy the endless horde of robotic machines trying to squish, zap, stomp and bite him.

Element4l – PS Vita

In Element4l, you control four elements who are bound together on a journey to shape life. Your only hindrances are nature and the sun. It takes a different, innovative approach to classic platform games and challenges you to rearrange your reflexes.
Element4l is a challenge. The first time you play it, you will struggle… just like the first time you learned how to ride a bike.

Below you’ll find the official announcement video:

Married to a gamer and she kicks my ass at most shooters. If the game is enjoyable I’ll play it, no matter the format.

  • Samashan Pillay

Well done Sony. A terrific line up! Now to just get a bigger hard drive….

  • Dian Fourie

Ah man 2 months of great games. Life is Strange was so amazing!!! Keen for Until Dawn. May give Game of Thrones a try.

    • Smuroh

Game of thrones is a must, Telltale just know how to pull on those heart strings.

      • Raidz19

        Is it not too boring?
Not too much walking around and talking nonsense but enough chopping off heads?

        • Smuroh

The game offers a lot of action and the story really pulls you in and is pretty gory too, but if I had to choose on a telltale game then i would definitely say play The Wolf among us, now that was a brilliant game lots of action and a brilliant story that really pulls you in.

          • Raidz19

I think I played the first ep and it definitely was very good. so original too.
I also enjoyed borderlands which I found had a nice mix of humor and action. Compared to the Walking Dead, I enjoyed it more.
So I’ll give GoT a play to see how it compares

  • DemonGamer

Not exactly a list of games I would go out and buy , but definitely a list I want to play

    • I think that’s what makes it so good. I mean, if they made Uncharted 4 available for free we’d all be like, “BOO! We already own that!”. So yeah, seems they got it right for you and most of us.

      • Raidz19

hahahahah playstation would HATE us for not appreciating it. but you speak the truth

  • Raidz19

whaaaaaaaaaaat! that’s awesome! I’ve always wanted to play Until Dawn even after it didn’t get great reviews. sjoe PS+ knows exactly how to keep me from buying all the new releases haha
