Shinji Mikami is back with the sequel to The Evil Within and since E3 we’ve heard and seen just about nothing. Last night Bethesda released a new trailer showing off some interesting story and gameplay elements and you can’t help but think that it’s got a Silent Hill meets The Last of Us vibe to it.
Players will once again fill the shoes of Sebastian Castellanos, but this time he’s fighting a huge mental battle as he tries to solve the mystery surrounding the death of his daughter who he could not save. In the below trailer you’ll get to see him taking on another daunting task in a nightmarish world. Yes, the 6-legged scary spider lady thing is back along with many new foes. It again looks like there’s lots of stealth involved, combined with close quarters combat and the odd explosion. Get ready for jump scares and screams because it looks like it’s another Mikami classic.
How will you survive in The Evil Within 2? That’s the mantra running through Sebastian Castellanos’ mind. Plagued by memories of the daughter he couldn’t save and a mystery he could never solve, he begins to lose himself in his past mistakes. Sebastian lives out his nightmares every day, unable to pull himself from his downward spiral. Until an old friend-turned-traitor reenters his life with an offer: Return to the nightmare and save your daughter. The Evil Within 2 gives a broken man the chance to make things right and find the peace he so deserves, but he’ll have to go through hell first.
The Evil Within 2 releases on 13 October for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
