If there’s one particular genre that’s missing on a Nintendo platform it’s a decent racing game. Gear.Club Unlimited will be the first racing game to appear on the switch that has real-world cars to drive. Heard of Gear.Club before? That might be because the game is actually being ported from Android and iOS to the Switch.
Head to the store on your mobile phone now and you’ll have access to Gear.Club for free, if you want to see what it’s all about. According to the developers it’s a ‘realistic’ racing game, trying to push it as some form of simulation racer on mobile, but when watching the below video it looks more arcade than anything else. Arcade would be a better fit for the Nintendo Switch audience anyway, so lets hope it sticks to that formula. It comes from Eden Games, who helped work on Test Drive Unlimited and the V-Rally franchise, so expect it to have some decent racing heritage in the game. One thing is for sure, we’ll prefer using buttons over touch controls for a racer any day of the year.
There’s no exact release date just yet, other than knowing that it’ll launch in the 4th quarter of 2017. If you own a Switch and would like to drive hypercars like the McLaren, Bugatti or Mercedes, then this is where you’ll find it.
Below is the launch trailer for mobile to help you get a better understanding what you can and can’t do in the game:
