Oh boy, I can’t wait to see what’s awful this time…
Woah, that was really cool. This latest story trailer for Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite brings the ‘wow’ factor we’ve come to expect from the Marvel cinematic universe. Large set pieces, important reveals and snappy dialogue, it’s like they low-key released the Infinity Wars trailer. The game has seen a lot of negative press, but at least a trailer like this can build up a bit of hype.
There’s no denying it though, this trailer had Marvel written all over it. From the one-liners to mini Civil War, we can see that the game is taking the same marketing approach as the movies. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it’s just interesting to note considering how MCU focused the game is. This trailer also made a concerted effort to show that Capcom have indeed fixed up Chun-Li and Chris Redfield’s faces, so that’s a pretty big win. Dante was however kept mostly out of the spotlight, so hopefully a fix for that is incoming.
Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite is going to still need to do a lot to win over the favour of fans of the series, but this seems to be a step in the right direction. There have been a few mentions of some more complex mechanics being in the game, but it’ll be best to see more of that in action before getting our hopes up. Hopefully Capcom will do another demo or beta of some-sorts in the near future. Capcom is totally able to bring back favour to the game, but they’re going to need to put in a lot of work before the game releases on the 19th of September.
