Earlier today we learnt that PEGI, the Pan European Game Information board, had rated Final Fantasy IX for PS4. Then at the Tokyo Games Show we saw Final Fantasy IX running with better textures and oh, it is available right now.
It seems to be the same version as you can play on Steam, along with all the enhancements that Square Enix is adding to games to help them waste less time and be more forgiving to this generation. The game includes autosaves, trophies, a speed up feature and a toggle for encounters in case you just want to explore or head back to safety. After playing Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age, I can tell you how good having an autosave to fall back on is, or how useful speeding time up in low risk grinding areas is for your sanity. In fact, now that I have played a game with a built-in turbo speed, I think I would battle to go back to hours and hours of grinding at the leisurely pace that older RPGs set.
You can buy Final Fantasy IX for PS4 right now for R329 or R263.20 if you have PS Plus. Get ready to steal all the things!
