At long last, I have finally achieved one small victory. I have obtained the platinum trophy for Resident Evil Revelations 2, and it was nowhere near as easy as I thought it would be. Having said that, now that the first trophy has been obtained, the rest should (hopefully) follow.
Obtaining the RE:R 2 trophy
I initially thought this would be a simple trophy, but after having played each episode well over four times, I can confidently say it was a nightmare. Each level needs to be completed as normal, then on countdown mode and again on invisible enemy mode. In addition to that, all the medals from each episode also need to be obtained, and that was the biggest pain in the ass.
Surprisingly, the invisible enemies weren’t as bad as I thought they would be. Most enemies can be avoided, and when using Moira and Natalia as your main, you can spot them pretty easily. The tricky bits were the bosses. For anyone attempting this trophy, I highly suggest pumping upgrades into Moira’s torch and Natalia’s sight as well as their crowbar and brick throw attacks.
As for countdown, this was harder. It basically involves you completing the levels with a short timer. You can extend the timer by defeating enemies and smashing time extenders. If you’re going to attempt this, I recommend picking and choosing fights. Avoiding unnecessary conflict is key to time preservation. Also, avoid enemies if you know you can’t one-shot kill them.
Overall, the difficulty was high, but also the time it took to complete was quite staggering. I don’t have a total, but I know I’ve played the first episode around 10 times and each successive episode at least four times.
Next to complete
The next trophy on my list, as it is the closest to completion, is Resident Evil 6. I mostly have to finish it on the insanity difficulty and clean up the remaining trophies. Resident Evil 7 will follow but I suspect the time trophy will be a bigger problem than insanity mode.
Aside from that, I had a lot of fun with RE:R 2. Having played it so many times, I unlocked a few secrets, such as the secret files. These included emails between Resident Evil members and some creepy in-game story elements. What I picked up is that it’s possible Claire Redfield may have had a relationship with Piers Nivens, though the evidence is circumstantial.
I hope the next trophy won’t be as time-consuming, but at least now I know I’ve definitely bitten off more than I can chew.
