If you weren’t quite aware that Shinji Mikami was the man behind the Evil Within series, then it’s probably a good idea that you know about that. He’s the guy that brought you classics such as the Resident Evil series, Dino Crisis, Devil May Cry, Vanquish, Shadows of the Damned and Killer 7 among others. This guy knows how to build suspense and an imaginary world where things are a little twisted. The Evil Within 2 launch trailer is a reminder of all those elements tied up into one game.
Unlike the original Evil Within this game will be a little bit personal for its protagonist, Sebastian Castellanos. In the below trailer you’ll see the vision of him seeing his daughter, Lily, who had disappeared years ago. She is not cute toddler you might imagine, thanks to the horrific world playing mind games on him. It’s going to be another terrifying experience as these foes aren’t slow zombies. They’re fast, nimble and, most importantly, versatile in their attacking methods. There seem to be way more monstrosities in the sequel than there was in the original game with some classics returning (like the spider lady scary thing) along with nurse-like enemies wielding knives you might have seen in Silent Hill before. It’s looking bad. The good kind of bad, if you like survival horror.
