It shouldn’t come as a surprise considering the relative success of Persona 5, but at the same time mainline Shin Megami Tensei fans can rest easy. The next entry in Atlus’s popular demon breeding simulator, Shin Megami Tensei V, will see a Western release on the Nintendo Switch.
We’ve been in luck for quite some time when it comes to Western localisations. I can’t think of a recent prominent game from the East that hasn’t been localised, but that doesn’t make the fear of missing out any less real. Given how long it took for Shin Megami Tensei IV to see a PAL release, I guess fears around the fifth entry are a little warranted. Thankfully it is confirmed to make the hop and we even got the original teaser trailer translated for English audiences.
This is fantastic news but let’s be real, we could have done with a little more. Atlus has stated that there will be more to come soon, but it’s been about a month since the Japanese teaser. A little more than some cryptic statements would prevent us from coming up with some crazy speculation as I might do now…
Entertain me for a moment, since there seems to be a focus on a blue and a red character, does this mean we could see the joy-cons having some weird use in-game? I highly doubt it, I don’t think Atlus will try force any gimmicks like that into the game but it’s fun to speculate while we know nothing. Please Atlus, give us some solid details before I convince myself Shin Megami Tensei V is actually a kart racer.
