SA Gamer Awards 2017: Best FPS Game (Single-Player)

Not too long ago, you would’ve had to search long and hard to find a good single-player experience in the First Person perspective. Everything was going multiplayer, and less and less attention was given to the solo experience. There were, of course, a few champions of the genre that kept the flag flying high, but in recent times, the focus of developers have truly shifted to give us good solid single-player games to play that are not only fun but immersive as well. Bethesda has been on the forefront of the renaissance, so it comes as no surprise as to what the best single-player FPS of 2017 is:

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus

Wolfenstein II doesn’t stray far from the foundation laid by its predecessor, and it becomes very clear that developer MachineGames were truly making the series their own, and the confidence truly  is showing. The game is a solid 15 hours of balls to the wall action, with a solid enough story to keep it going. It’s also not afraid to take some risks, with it tackling some strong issues that are on the forefront of our minds today, and doing it with a level of style and flair that few would be able to pull off.

Runner-Up: Call of Duty: World War II
Honourable Mention: Prey, Dishonored: Death of the Outsider, Destiny 2
