The bits of downhill mountain biking I have watched terrify me. Riders whip past and between trees at speeds that should be reserved for when you are inside something made of metal with safety features. It looks amazing, but there is no way I would do something that would cause me to meet a tree at breakneck speeds. Descenders lets me do all of that without risking my neck,
On February 9th RageSquid’s latest game is launching on Steam early access. The Action Henk developers have kept with speed and tricks, but instead of set courses to master and whittle down, Descenders takes a step into a procedurally generated world. This means reflexes rather than pattern memorisation will be what separates the highest speeds and best trick streaks from the people eating pine cones.
While the game is an early access release, it will already have a full singleplayer campaign, online leaderboards and unlockable kits and bikes, with a plan to leave early access in six to nine months.
Whether you like off-road, maximum speed or sick score tricks, Descenders has something to appeal and the game’s Discord is structured to play the three disciplines off against each other with some fun banter.
