It’s always interesting to see where developers end up when a big project comes to an end. Some of the top developers who worked on Bioshock and Dishonored have finally joined forces to create their own new game. It’s a co-op horror game called The Blackout Club and if the first bit of art and video is anything to go by it could be something worth keeping an eye on.
It’s heading to the PC, PS4 and Xbox One in the first quarter of 2019 and will have you playing a mystery horror game in co-op with friends. The story starts off in a cliche small town where misfit teenagers have been witnessing mysterious blackouts. As you might guess that is where the title originates from. A friend disappears and the group of friends go looking for him. Yes, it’s definitely reminding us of Stranger Things too.
Co-founder, Jordan Thomas, had the following to say about this new game:
In The Blackout Club, the horror genre comes home. Our story is about vulnerable heroes — for whom co-op gameplay is a matter of survival — who unite to save their friends. We love expressive systems, where you shape the game experience as you see fit, often versus a whole ecosystem of intelligent threats. And now, they’re right next door – in a familiar, modern town, where the monster wears a human face. We can’t wait for you to meet it.
Your task will be to snoop around and find what on Earth is going on in this town by setting traps and using your smartphone to take snapshots of events. What makes it unique is that each teenager will serve a unique role that only that one person can perform. Reminds us of a classic co-op game, named Project Eden.
This could be something special, get your first look at it now:
